An event was organised in Parachinar, Kurram Agency on Tuesday to commemorate the 27th death anniversary of slain Shia cleric and founder of Jamia Al Hussain Peshawar Allama Syed Arif Hussain Al Hussaini. The late chief was gunned down on August 5, 1988.
Former Senator Allama Abid Hussain Al Hussaini and Maulana Muneer Hussain, Maulana Yousaf Hussain attended the ceremony. Furthermore, thousands of people from across Kurram Agency were also present at the event.
During the occasion, Shia leaders paid tribute to Arif. They also voiced satisfaction over the operation against militants in North Waziristan and Khyber agencies. “While military offensives have been launched against militants, we must also consider taking action to quell sectarian unrest and hostilities,” a speaker said.
The speakers at the event said at a time when the country is ravaged by sectarian strife, mutual understanding and coordination is needed to bring people together and ensure peace and stability.
