“All schools in Sindh, including Karachi, will reopen on August 11”, the Sindh CM’s spokesperson said in a statement.
Refuting claims that school will open on August 3, the spokesperson said a notification issued in this regard a few days ago stands valid.
“Disciplinary action will be taken against educational institutions violating the orders,” the spokesperson maintained.

The statement comes a day after reports that authorities have decided to arrest anyone violating the extension and imprison them for at least six months.
On July 30, education secretary Fazlullah Pechuho sent a proposal to the office of chief secretary to extend the summer holidays of schools till August 11. “Many schools are occupied by flood victims, which is why reopening schools on August 3 is not possible,” he said.

However, on July 31, private school associations rejected the orders of the extension saying they would reopen schools on August 3 even if the order was not retracted.
Addressing a press conference, Chairman All Private Schools Management Association Sindh Khalid Shah called on the chief minister to reject the notification. “This 10-day extension in summer vacations is useless and we demand these orders be taken back,” he said.
