GILGIT:

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B) on Wednesday issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain for using derogatory language against the armed forces.

The decision was announced by Justice Raja Shahbab of ATC-1 during the hearing of cases filed against the self-exiled MQM leader in various police stations across G-B.

This is the first time a court has issued non-bailable arrest warrants for the MQM chief who has been living in London since 1991.

Meanwhile, scores of FIRs have been registered against Altaf across the country.

About 50 cases have already been registered under sections pertaining to terrorism and criminal intimidation over the MQM chief’s July 12 speech, in which he allegedly used deprecating language against the security forces and Rangers.
