BAHAWALPUR:

Security was beefed up in Rahim Yar Khan following the death of Lashkar-i-Jhangvi leader Malik Ishaq and his two sons in a shootout in Shahwala near Muzaffargarh on Wednesday.

Pickets were set up across the district as preparations were underway for Ishaq’s funeral at his hometown in Taranda Sawai Khan. Rangers were deployed at major government installations and security was tightened around Imam Bargahs. Markets remained closed throughout the day and Rangers and police teams were seen patrolling several neighbourhoods. Bodies of the deceased had reached Rahim Yar Khan but a schedule for funeral prayers had not been announced till this report was filed.
