KARACHI: Pakistan men’s volleyball head coach Mazhar Hussain is confident about reaching at least the final of the 18th Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship, set to be held at the Azadi Sports Complex in Tehran from July 31 to August 8.

Pakistan have been placed in Group C, where they will begin their campaign with a match against Thailand on the opening day, followed by a match against Oman on August 1 and South Korea the next day.

“We have included four youngsters in the squad — Usman, Kashif, Muhammad Idrees and Murad Khan,” Hussain told The Express Tribune. “They have been following a tough training regime since May 20 and will be making their international debut, and I’m positive that they will make an impact.”

However, Pakistan will not be relying on the youngsters alone. “The experienced Aimal Khan, who was playing in the Taiwan league, has also joined the team,” revealed Hussain.

Hussain left for Tehran on Tuesday night with the 12-member team.
