National Accountability Bureau (NAB) filed a corruption case against four officials of Lyari Expressway Resettlement Project (Lerp) and Revenue Department.
The suspects — Standard Chartered Bank former manager operations Anwar Ahmed, Habib Bank Limited ex-clerk Muhammad Rafique, Habib Metropolitan Bank ex-CD Azhar Zahid and Muhammad Nadeemuddin — have been arrested on non-bailable warrants issued by the accountability court No. III.
NAB investigation revealed that the accused were involved in illegal allotment of plots reserved for the families affected by the construction of expressway. The embezzled amount was between Rs10 million to Rs2.5 million.

It was also revealed that the payment of compensation meant for the displaced families was paid to unauthorised persons and such payments were credited to third-party bank accounts.
