Fighting dengue: Doctors undergoing dengue training

LAHORE: Lahore General Hospital (LGH) and Post Graduate Medical Institute (PGMI) Principal Khalid Mahmood said on Sunday that the 62 newly-appointed house officers would be imparted dengue treatment training. Addressing a meeting at LGH, he said that doctors from rural health centres and other hospitals were attending a training programme at PGMI regarding dengue. “Doctors from Chakwal, Bahawalpur, Attock, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bhakkar and Bahawalnagar districts have already completed their training under the programme,” he said. Mahmood said that all employees of the institute including doctors, nurses and paramedics were being trained to effectively deal with dengue fever. “In this regard, seminars and training workshops are being regularly held at the LGH. Special staff has been assigned to all the three shifts to deal with dengue cases,” he said. He directed the doctors having administrative roles to raise awareness about dengue fever among the patients who visited the hospital. He directed the hospital administration to spray the hospital premises with insecticides on a daily basis. “Sanitary inspectors should drain out rain water and ensure cleanliness in all wards and corridors of the hospital,” he said.
