HYDERABAD:

The university teachers and officers will announce their protest movement against the Sindh government's encroachment on autonomy of the higher education institutions on July 27.

Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association (Fapuasa) spokesperson said that a meeting of the Fapuasa's central and provincial office bearers and the varsity-based teachers' association will be held at Karachi University.

The Sindh Universities Officers Federation will also attend the meeting, which will be followed by a press conference. In their reaction to the July 17 advertisement for the appointment of 16 registrars and 18 examination controllers in various universities of Sindh, Fapuasa's central president Dr Naimatullah Laghari warned of resorting to teaching boycott. The teachers have demanded that only the syndicates of the respective universities should have the power to make appointments.
