By-polls: PTI demands Rangers in PP-100

GUJRANWALA: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) on Tuesday demanded the deployment of Rangers during the upcoming by-election in Kamoke (PP-100). The seat had become vacant with the murder of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) Rana Shamshad Ahmad. Talking to reporters, PTI deputy provincial organiser Umar Sarfraz Cheema and by-poll candidate Ehsanullah Virk said that security was a worry. “On July 8, we had sent an application to the Election Commission officials about the security situation. We had requested them to order the deployment of Rangers during polling scheduled for July 26. However, the commission has not taken any action on our request,” they said. The PTI leaders said that the provincial government was fully supporting the PML-N candidate in the elections. They claimed that PTI supporters were being harassed. PTI leaders Nasir Cheema, Zulfiqar Bhindar, Rana Sajid Ali Shaukat and Barrister Ali Ashraf Mughal were also present on the occasion.
