LAKKI MARWAT/SWABI/DI KHAN: At least five people were killed and 10 were injured in separate incidents of violence across Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on Monday and Tuesday.

A proclaimed offender was gunned down while two others were injured in Karmol Khel area of Lakki Marwat. Pezu SHO Noor Aslam told the media firing took place at the wedding ceremony of Ziaur Rehman where proclaimed offender Rehmatullah, a resident of Langar Khel, was also present. Rehmatullah had an argument with a man after which both opened indiscriminate fire. Subsequenly, Rehmatullah was killed while two others were wounded. They were rushed to a hospital in Bannu and were later shifted to Peshawar. The SHO said a case has been registered and further investigation is under way.

Meanwhile in the southern district of DI Khan, eight people, including a minor and a woman, were injured in three separate incidents on Tuesday. The first case was reported from within the limits of Parwa police station where three motorcyclists shot and injured four people of the same family. A Parwa police official said the family belonged to Khati village and was en route in the area when it was fired upon. The culprits managed to flee while locals rushed the injured to Civil Hospital Parwa. They were later shifted to Civil Hospital DI Khan in a critical condition. The second incident of violence took place on Kandal Road within the limits of Khaisoor police station. Niaz Wazir, a resident of Pasha Pul, told the police he was travelling with two other friends when a car approached their vehicle and the men inside opened fire on them. Niaz was injured while his friends narrowly escaped the attack. He told the police the attack could be a result of an argument he had with some people a few days back. In another case, two men were injured while rescuing Nasrullah from kidnappers. However, the kidnappers managed to catch Nasrullah again but had a flat tyre soon, following which they beat him up and left him near the woods.

Further up in the region, a father and son were gunned down by a relative over a monetary dispute in Sheikh Jana area of Swabi, within the jurisdiction of Kalu Khan police. The deceased Arab Khan’s wife told the police her husband and son Abdullah were killed when Sanab Khan, brother of Arab, opened fire on them in his house. The father and son died on the spot.

In the same district, two people, including an Afghan citizen, died while another person was injured when their car turned over after one of its tyres burst near Karnal Sher Khan Interchange on Tuesday.
