A security official was killed when militants attacked a security post in Tirah Valley, sources said.


According to details, clashes between the security officials and militants broke out after the latter attacked a check post which was previously cleared by the security forces.


The clashes broke out in the Mazatal Kandaw area of Tirah valley, close to the border with Afghanistan.


The security official was initially injured but later succumbed to his wounds.


Earlier last week, two officials of security forces were killed and five members of the bomb disposal unit (BDU) were injured in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast in the Sandana area of Tirah Valley.
