ISLAMABAD:

Two people were killed in Banigala area on Saturday. Police said Muhammad Asif, a resident of Peshawar, had contracted marriage with Sumbul against the will of Sumbal’s parents.

According to the police, Sumbul’s family was in search of the couple and Sumbal’s uncle Mustakeem Khan along with four relatives, Bashir Khan, Rahim Sher, Mir Alam and Matwali, traced the couple in the Banigala area two days back.

As soon as the couple was spotted, Sumbul made an escape while Asif was fatally hit by a bullet fired by Mustakeem.

Before succumbing to injuries, Asif also opened fire and shot Mustakeem dead, the police said. The police shifted the bodies to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences for medico-legal formalities and Sumbal to a shelter house.

The body of Asif was later taken to Peshawar, his home town, for burial.

The police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
