HARIPUR:

Hamid Shah, a head constable posted at Panian, was on routine patrol along Panian Maira road in his private car with Constable Abdul Wahab Wednesday night.

Shah told the police some eight men wearing Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) uniforms got out of an official vehicle
and intercepted the constable’s car.

Since the head constable and his subordinate were without uniform, Shah said they attempted to prove their identity
but the ANF personnel insisted Shah and Wahab bribe them.

The ANF officials then—allegedly—forcibly dragged Shah out of his car and beat him mercilessly.

He was taken to a hospital later. A criminal case under sections 506, 186, 189, 148, 149, 341 and 506 of the Pakistan Penal Code has been registered against eight ANF personnel in Kotnajibullah police station but none of them have been arrested so far.

Meanwhile, when approached for comments, the local in charge ANF was not available.
