The app, which is currently available in English, Russian and Farsi, would soon be available worldwide on various platforms, including iOS and Android.

The creator of the mobile application, Arsen Kazibekov, said that his app allowed men and women to communicate in accordance with Islam and Sharia law.

Speaking to a Russian news site, Kazibekov said, "The method of visual sorting, which is used in Western sites, is contrary to Eastern culture and Islamic traditions."

Mydiaspora finds matches based on answers to a given questionnaire, as well as by religion and nationality. However, names and photographs are initially kept hidden. Currently the app claims to have 10,000 registered users.

Further, Kazibekov said the app was automatically Sharia compliant because it allowed women to share chats with their father or brother.

“Countries where polygamy is not legally prohibited will be the primary targets,” added the app creator. As such, the app will be introduced in countries like Iran, Tunisia, Morocco and Algeria.
