QUETTA:

At least two alleged suspects were killed and as many injured by the police in Kalat on Monday. SHO Muhammad Yousuf told The Express Tribune that the police were carrying out a search operation in Kalat when they came under fire. In a retaliatory reaction, the police killed two suspects and injured as many others.

“The suspects were involved in the kidnapping of an ASI and extortion,” SHO Yousuf claimed and added that the suspects were taking two transformers of the area for extortion when the police officers arrived at the spot where a gunfight took place.

The casualties were taken to the District Headquarters Hospital Kalat for autopsy, where the deceased were identified as Abdul Jabbar and Abdul Hameed.

The relatives of the victims blocked the RCD Highway for traffic in protest.  They said the police interfered in a personal feud and killed their men. According to sources, two groups of farmers had a dispute over an electricity line for their farmlands. The relatives demanded the provincial police chief take action against the police.
