PESHAWAR:

IGP Nasir Khan Durrani has suspended and ordered criminal cases against two sub-inspectors and a police constable.

The decision was taken after investigating SMS complaints received against them. Durrani had received an SMS against SI Jehanzeb Khan, an official of Banamarhi. Khan had been illegally providing electricity and gas connections from his police post to eight houses in return for a monthly income of Rs8,000 from each house.

The IGP also received a complaint against Takht Bhai SI Afsar Said for being negligent in investigating a case. A complainant sent the IGP a text message, saying Irshad, a constable of Mardan, had demanded Rs0.7 million from his son in return for an appointment in a government department. Another complainant accused Irshad of demanding money to register his medical company through the health department.
