LAHORE:

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Punjab organiser Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar says he will write a letter to the Election Commission to protest against the use of public resources by the government to influence the upcoming local government (LG) elections.

During a meeting with PTI Punjab deputy organiser Sibtain Khan, Sarwar announced that he would ask the commissioner to deploy Rangers during the elections.

He said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s government had been distributing development funds among its MPAs and ticket holders who had lost elections to the PTI. He said the PTI would request the commission to ensure transparent local government elections.

Sarwar said it appeared that the rulers were afraid of PTI’s popularity and wanted to rig the polls.

He said the PTI and its supporters were ready to foil any bid to rig the elections.
