ISLAMABAD:
The International Labour Organisation (ILO) would support coordination between federal and provincial governments and with textile industry on effective compliance with labour laws. In this regard, Federal Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis, Provincial Labour Department Punjab and ILO have signed a Letter of Understanding to support Public Private Partnership (PPP) on labour law compliance in textile sector in Faisalabad. According to ILO statement, an inter-ministerial coordination mechanism including Ministry of Textiles and Ministry of Commerce is also in place to oversee implementation of intervention which will target 2010 industrial units over next three years. In 2015, ten industrial units will benefit from the initiative with a progressive roll out. The intervention will also focus on bridging industry with international buyers to enhance compliance through advocacy and dissemination of good practices.
