UPPER DIR:

Residents of Upper Dir face difficulties in getting birth, death and marriage certificates made as the strike of union council Secretaries continues. On June 18, the secretaries went on strike, demanding promotions from grade-7 to grade-11.

The protest has continued ever since. Tehsil councillor Advocate Syed Maroof Shah said he met with Dir’s local government officials to resolve the issue but was informed that UC secretaries were on strike across the province and not just Upper Dir.

He urged the provincial government bigwigs to address concerns of the secretaries so locals can get essential documents made with ease. Secretaries association Upper Dir chief Sahibzada Tahirullah said the strike would continue till their scale-promotions were announced.
