Talking to The Express Tribune, Balochistan Home Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti confirmed that Jaishul-Islam chief Mehmood Rind was killed in a search operation. Bugti claimed that Rind was involved in sectarian attacks in Quetta.
According to the Frontier Corps (FC) spokesperson, a suicide bomber was among those killed in the raid, adding that a security official also sustained injuries.
Security sources claimed that the militants were planning to attack a religious procession on Ramazan 21 in the provincial capital, adding that religious literature, weapons and a suicide jacket was also recovered from the militant’s compound.
The other two militants killed in the operation were identified as Abdul Wahab and Saifullah.
Following the raid, Police, FC and other security agencies have expanded their search operation in Quetta, intensifying checking at main check-posts, while security at sensitive areas and government installations have been doubled.
Police and FC have netted 39 other suspects in another search operation in Killi Deba area of Joint Road.
