RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi City Traffic Police (CTP) issued 526,270 fines amounting to over Rs196 million against traffic violators during the last financial year.

Chief Traffic Officer SSP Shoaib Khurram Janbaz said in a statement on Monday that the CTP also impounded thousands of vehicles and motorcycles for traffic violations besides arresting a number of drivers in the same period.


The CTO said action was taken against traffic violators in Rawalpindi city, Murree, Kotli Sattian, Taxila, Gujar Khan, Kallar Syedan and Kahuta tehsils.


Several arrests were also made for using cell phones while driving, he said, adding that drivers found involved in rash driving were also penalised.
