Quaid-e-Azam solar project: PM orders completion of project by April
Company had earlier committed to completing the project by Sept, 2016
LAHORE:
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Saturday directed that Quaid-e-Azam Solar Power Project should be completed by April 2016 to enable the country to overcome energy shortages at the earliest.
He issued the directives while chairing a meeting to review progress of the 900MW solar power generation project, which is prioritised under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
The prime minister was briefed that 50MW of the project would be completed by August 14, 2015 while, a total of 300MW would be operationalised by the end of December this year.
Zonergy had earlier committed to completing the project by September 2016 but following the orders of the premier, its representative assured that it would be completed by the first week of April 2016, said a press release.
Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif was also present in the meeting. Representatives of Zonergy, the Chinese company working on the project, MD NTDC and officials from Punjab government attended the meeting.
