SHANGLA: A man drowned in Khan Khuwar Dam on Friday in Shangla. Twenty-year-old Jan Muhammad, a resident of Bobai, went out with his uncle to shop when he saw people swimming in the dam. He decided to jump in the water but could not defend himself against the raving tides in the dam. Though locals managed to rescue him after an hour, Jan Muhammad did not survive. His body was handed over to his relatives and he was laid to rest near his village. Many have been affected in the heatwave in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa as people dive in water canals and rivers to cool off but the water levels, depth and flow washes them away.
