The FIR was lodged at the Race Course police station on Wednesday.
A police officer at the Race Couse police station told The Express Tribune that Azeem and Abdullah were stopped by traffic warden Shakeel at the Mall road intersection on Canal road for not wearing their seat belt while driving. Upon this the accused started arguing with the traffic warden.
The traffic warden alleged that though the two put on their seatbelt on his request, both started misbehaving with him, abused him and later manhandled him as well.
Upon this, Shakeel called for support from other wardens in the area and took the two offenders to Race Course Police Station.
At the station, Azeem and Abdullah presented an address of Zaman Park – which also happens to be the address of PTI chief Imran Khan in Lahore - and told the officers at the station that Imran Khan was their maternal uncle.
The officer on duty said that the the accused later modified their statement to claim that the PTI chief was in fact their paternal uncle.
However, FIR-325 was registered against the Azeem and Abdullah and some other unknown men, under sections 186, section 506, section 353, section 147 and section 149 of Pakistan Penal Code for obstructing a public servant in discharge of his duty, criminal intimidation, assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty and for rioting.
Interestingly, the FIR fails to mention the last names of the two accused.
According to the duty officer the two accused are under police’s custody and will be presented in court on Thursday.
