The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), while criticising Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s visit to Karachi, said the premier did not announce any compensation for the families of the heatstroke victims.
In a statement, the party’s Coordination Committee said the Sindh government had ignored the victims, and they had pinned hopes on the premier. But Nawaz Sharif also remained indifferent to the problems of the people living in Karachi.
“The people were hopeful that the prime minister would announce a relief package for the affected families of over 1,200 heatstroke victims who died in Karachi. But no such announcement was made and they were left disappointed,” the statement said.
The party said it had hoped Premier Nawaz would also discuss steps to curb power outages and water crisis, but nothing of that sort happened.
