ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) dismissed on Wednesday a petition seeking court’s help to direct the government not to release any grant to the National Press Club (NPC). In June, the court ordered seizure of the accounts of NPC and restrained its administration from functioning.  On Wednesday, the court dismissed the petition filed by Abdul Waheed Anjum after the counsel for the NPC, Barrister Afzal Hussain said that the petitioner was a habitual litigant and has a history of filing cases against NPC to harass and pressurise the press club. The petitioner had argued that the legal status of the NPC had been decided by a Rawalpindi court, which had restored the RIPC as an independent body in 2012. However, he said, despite the ruling, the NPC administration continued to exercise control over the RIPC and in its annual body elections.
