Police said on Tuesday that a three-year-old child had died after being made to stand in the sun in Derawar area.
Officials said Chak 103-DNB resident Abdul Hameed used to frequently beat his maternal grandchildren Shaan and Ayesha.
Police said he had made the children stand in the sun and refused to provide them with food and water. Officials said Shaan had died after not being able to withstand the ordeal.
Hameed told media that his grandchild had been injured after the roof of a room in his house had caved in. He said he had taken him to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
