PESHAWAR:

Acting High Commissioner of Australia Jurek Juszczyk said over a 100 students raised and educated in his country have been found visiting the Federally Administered Tribal Areas frequently.

Arriving at Radio Pakistan Peshawar’s studios to observe the production of Centre for Research and Security Studies programme Sabawoon on Tuesday, Juszczyk said, “Radicalisation today stands as a global threat and is not just limited to Pakistan.” He said the extremists took advantage of social media and used it to brainwash the youth, using religion as a tool. “Australia is also threatened by such forces,” he said.

He was briefed about the breakfast show that aims to foster progressive ideas through alternative narrative building by CRSS Media and Communication Director Aized Ali and the show’s Executive Producer Shamsul Qamar. Over 3,000 programmes have been aired by the centre as part of its media advocacy initiative.

Financial support

On behalf of the Ausralian government, Juszczyk has offered the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa minerals department financial assistance to upgrade a material testing lab. He also offered help in inviting foreign investment in the mining sector.
