Busted: Two ‘extortionists’ arrested

A case has been registered at the PIB Colony police station

KARACHI: The police claimed to have arrested two suspects involved in extorting millions of rupees from businessmen on Sunday. According to the law enforcers, the suspects, identified as Asif and Shahid, were arrested from Jamshed Quarters for demanding Rs2 million in extortion money from a shopkeeper. They added that the men were apprehended during a joint raid conducted by the Special Investigation Unit police and the Citizens Police Liaison Committee on a tip-off, while weapons were also seized from their possession. The police further said that initial interrogation had revealed that the suspects had been targeting traders and factory owners for a long time. A case has been registered at the PIB Colony police station.
