Container Attack: Pommi Butt acquitted
After hearing the witnesses and examining the evidence, the magistrate acquitted them
GUJRANWALA:
A judicial magistrate on Saturday acquitted 10 men accused of attacking Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan’s container last year. Prosecution said Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) workers, led by Salman alias Pommi Butt, had thrown stones at Khan’s container on August 15 when he was leading a long march from Lahore to Islamabad. The container was attacked on GT Road near Gujranwala. Sabzi Mandi police had registered an FIR against them under Sections 506 (criminal intimidation), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapons) and 148 (unlawful assembly). After hearing the witnesses and examining the evidence, the magistrate acquitted them giving them the benefit of doubt.
