Anti-terrorism measures: Seminary official gets one-year jail term

The case was registered under section 9 of Anti-Terrorism Act on a complaint by sub inspector

DERA GHAZI KHAN: Justice Wajahat Hussain of special Anti-Terrorism Court of Dera Ghazi Khan district has handed down a one-year jail term and a fine of Rs10,000 to Abdullah, the deputy administrator of the seminary in Rojhan of Lal Masjid and one of four culprits found to be in possession of hate material and delivering hate speeches in public gatherings. The case was registered under section 9 of Anti-Terrorism Act on a complaint by sub inspector. While the other three were released on the basis of lack of factual evidence. Rojhan police had earlier raided the seminary and arrested four suspects namely Abdullah, Ibrahim, Mukhtiar and Hayyat.  Police also confiscated the hate literature including books, pamphlets and brochures. Similar pamphlets were distributed against the Pakistan Army in Rajanpur district by the parent seminary of Lal Masjid cleric Maulana Abdul Aziz.
