A Quran Khwani was held at the mazar at Garhi Khuda Bux in the morning and the cake-cutting ceremony was held at Naudero House in the evening.
PPP chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari reached Naudero House on Saturday evening, soon after they landed at Moen Jo Daro airport. Bilawal went straight to Garhi Khuda Bux, where he laid floral wreath at the grave of his mother and offered Fateha before he left for Naudero House.
The remaining PPP leaders arrived on Sunday morning. These included Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, Sindh Assembly speaker Agha Siraj Durrani, MNA Ayaz Soomro and other cabinet members. They also visited the mazar and offered Fateha.
"Shaheed Mohtarma played a vital role in strengthening democracy in the country," said Shah. "The services she rendered for the country and for the rights of people cannot be forgotten."
Talking about the Karachi operation, Shah said that the operation is being carried out across the board and will continue till the last terrorist is eliminated. On the question of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement's likeliness to join the Sindh government, he said that he had no idea.
The CM also lauded the army operation against terrorists. "We support the federal government but not the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz in this regard," he said evasively. "There are some misunderstandings with PML-N, which will be sorted out soon."
