NOWSHERA/ MINGORA: At least five people were killed while five others were injured in a collision between two vehicles in Gogdara on the outskirts of Mingora Sunday morning.

A Gogdara police officer said the incident occurred around 9:30am when a jeep rammed into a passenger pickup. The driver of the jeep survived and fled the scene of the crime.

Two people died on the spot and have been identified as Anwarul Haq and Abdul Samad. Eight others were critically wounded and immediately rushed to a hospital.

Saidu Teaching Hospital Casualty In charge Mian Gul Alam said the injured were shifted to the facility on Sunday morning.  “Three people who were brought to the hospital succumbed to their injuries,” he said. “They have been identified as Feroz Khan, Masfi Jab Khan and Ajab Khan.”

According to Alam, three minors, Ilyas, Abbas and Sanaullah – who lost their father, Haq, in the accident – were also shifted to the facility and subsequently discharged.

Police have registered a case and are searching for the driver of the jeep.

Four people were injured when a passenger pickup collided with a car on Cherat Road in Pabbi. The injured were admitted in Mian Rashid Hussain Shaheed Memorial Hospital Pabbi and are in stable condition. They have been identified as Sabira, Khadija, Mehrbano and Zulfiqar.
