Development Partnership: Support for int’l summit pledged

Saif also urged the USAID to consider supporting the work of Plan9, a venture to promote entrepreneurship

LAHORE:
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) will grant financial assistance to the Information Technology University for its upcoming International Development Design Summit scheduled for January next year, USAID Punjab director Miles F Toder said on Friday. He was addressing a meeting of Punjab Information Technology Board at the Arfa IT Tower. Toder said rather than extending lump sum grants to the government, the agency had recently decided to develop partnerships with various government bodies and support their operations. He expressed interest in partnering with the ITU and the PITB for research and technology-based projects. PITB chairman Umar Saif welcomed the suggestion. Saif also urged the USAID to consider supporting the work of Plan9, a venture to promote entrepreneurship in the country.
