The delegation headed by President of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly Amanda Ruth Fazio expressed their interest during a meeting with AJK Prime Minister Attique Ahmed Khan at Kashmir House on Wednesday.
“We are very much impressed by our ongoing visit and expect Pakistani and AJK businessmen to visit Australia and have interaction with their counterparts and institutions there.
Earlier the AJK premier invited the Australian investors to make investment in hydropower generation, farming, water management, technical training to youth, tourism, and mineral projects.
Azad Kashmir has a potential of over 17,000 megawatts of hydropower generation that needs to be harnessed. The sites and fields identified for this purpose are ready to be handed over to investors, the prime minister added. The Australian delegation accepted his invitation to visit AJK during their next visit to Pakistan. The President of the Australian Legislative Council evinced keen interest in the exchange of expertise, expansion of trade ties with Pakistan and AJK.
The AJK prime minister pointed out that the solution of the simmering Kashmir dispute according to the UN resolutions is very vital that will open up largest vistas of regional and international trade and commerce in the region.
“Kashmiris will welcome any Australian role in resolving the Kashmir dispute peacefully,” he added. The AJK premier especially thanked the Australian government for extending relief assistance to the flood as well as earthquake affected people of Pakistan and AJK. Australia had provided Aus$75.5 million to Pakistan for flood relief.
The delegation members comprised MPs Lynda Voltz, Shaoquett Mosalman, Hannah Meagher, Justice Joanne Harrison and Kashif Amjid, Vice-President Business council of Australia.
