Ghazi murder case: Non-bailable arrest warrant issued for Musharraf
If Musharraf fails to appear in court, police will escort him and bring him to the court on July 24

A district and sessions court issued on Friday non-bailable warrants of arrest against former president Pervez Musharraf in connection with the murder case of Lal Masjid’s cleric Ghazi Abdul Rasheed.
District and Session Judge Kamran Busharat Mufti also rejected Musharraf's plea to be exempted from appearing in court.

The court also stated that if Musharraf fails to appear before court, police will escort him and bring him to court on July 24.
Earlier on Thursday, a district and sessions court reserved its verdict on Musharraf's exemption application in the murder case of Ghazi Abdul Rasheed.
District and sessions judge Kamran Basharat Mufti, reserved the verdict after both the parties concluded their arguments on the application seeking exemption from appearance in the case.
Musharraf's counsel Malik Tahir Mehmood said that court has inheritance power and it was authorised to exempt any suspect from appearance. In his application filed under several sections of the Criminal Procedure Code, Mehmood said that it was up to court to grant exemption in the case.
He added that the police have also shown Musharraf's name in column two of the charge sheet and he should be granted bail and exemption in the case.

Tariq Asad, the counsel for Rasheed family, opposed the requests saying that the suspect deliberately did not appear before the court despite several notices. He said that if the suspect was granted exemption on medical grounds then how come he was frequently attending different TV shows. He requested the court to issue non-bailable warrants for the suspect.
Following the arguments, the court reserved the verdict for June 19.
In 2013, the Islamabad police registered a case against Musharraf over the alleged murder of Rasheed and his mother during the Lal Masjid military operation.
The case was filed after Haroon Rasheed, Ghazi’s son, submitted an application at the Aabpara Police Station after registering an FIR against the former president. In the application, Haroon had referred to about 20 pages of the Lal Masjid Commission report, which held the former president responsible for the operation.
