Corruption: NAB chief takes notice of AIOU scam

ISLAMABAD: Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Qamar Zaman Chaudhry on Thursday took serious notice of alleged corruption of Rs2.5 billion in Allama Iqbal Open University, Islamabad. As reported in the media, former Vice-Chancellor of AIOU Islamabad, Nazeer Ahmad, former Registrar Muhammad Bashir, Head of Physics Department, Dr Zafar Ilyas and Dr A Naeem of Social Sciences Department were found involved in alleged corruption. The accused persons made money from development work, transport, recruitment and by selling recycle papers. Taking notice the chairman has directed DG, NAB to look into matter and submit report within seven days.
