Under fire: Political tehsildar survives IED attack in Khyber Agency

BDS officials said bombing was an IED attack and two kilogrammes of explosives were used in it

An improvised explosive device went off near the convoy of Jamrud political tehsildar near Takhta Beg Bridge in Khyber Agency on Wednesday morning.


Political Tehsildar Naik Mohammad was en route to his office in Jamrud from Peshawar when his vehicle was attacked. The bomb, planted by unidentified militants, went off as soon as his vehicle passed by the site. However, Mohammad remained unhurt.


Officials from the bomb disposal squad confirmed the bombing was an IED attack and two kilogrammes of explosives were used in it. Heavy contingents of security forces reached the site soon after, and cordoned the area off.


A search operation was conducted and a number of suspects were arrested. They were shifted to an unknown location for further interrogation.


No militant group claimed responsibility of the attack till the filing of this report.
