Holding Accountable: NAB court remands five Larp officials

The prosecution submitted that the suspects were involved in a land grabbing scam

KARACHI: An accountability court remanded on Tuesday five officials of the Lines Area Redevelopment Project (Larp) to the custody of the National Accountability Bureau on charges of land grabbing. The five accused officials, director Waseem Iqbal, deputy directors Fareed Naseem and Shahid Umar and additional directors Atta Abbas and Rashid Hussain, were presented before the administrative judge of accountability courts by the investigators to seek their custody for questioning. The prosecution submitted that the suspects were involved in a land grabbing scam of over Rs4.5 billion in the city and needed to be interrogated. The special judge, Abdul Latif Golo, handed the suspects over to NAB on physical remand till June 28 and demanded a progress report on the next hearing.
