Here’s what Lahore’s ostrich burger tastes like.

LAHORE:

The restaurant initially spread its ‘Wings’ in DHA, Lahore, last year but recently relocated to the heart of foodies, MM Alam Road. The reason being prolonged sit-ins at Lalik Chowk as stated by one of the owners.

“It caused the entire area to be sealed and made it somewhat haunted. So, we shifted to the new location which has increased our footfall.” Known for its Ostrich burgers and chicken wings, The Express Tribune recently got their hands on the delicious bites. Here’s what made us fly with Wings.

The filling was exceptional but the stale bun brought down the overal quality of the meat. PHOTO: PUBLICITY

Quality 3.5/5

We started off with the highly recommended Wings Flings, grilled wings drenched in a pool of sweet chili sauce. They were cooked well. Although, the sauce was not very thick, it didn’t miss a mark on being tasty. Up next was their famous ‘Ostrich Burger’. This huge juicy double-patty burger with vegetables looked daunting upon arrival to say the least. The filling was exceptional, however, the same couldn’t be said for the bun. It seemed stale as it was crumbly and not up to par with the tantalising flavours of the feeling, bringing down the overall quality of the meat. Currently, Wings also serves a variety of sidelines, including Criss Cut Fries with sweet chilli, buffalo sauce and masala toppings as well as the Onion Rings. The restaurant only offers chicken and ostrich and plans on continuing to do so. They have also introduced chicken steaks. While some foodies may consider this next to blasphemy, the restaurant has definitely made a name for itself within its specialties.

Atmosphere 4/5

Located behind Zouk, the area serves as a good option because it is more accessible than before. The entire ambiance is based on a biker-boy theme with an actual bike, along with other related paraphernalia decorated all over the joint. The restaurant logo reminds us of the Aston Martin logo in its shape and the signature combination of the orange and black in a Harley Davidson logo.

Presentation 3.5/5

The restaurant serves adequate portions, delivering great value for money. Their menu deserves a special mention as it has creative and out of the box names for items such as Fat Chicks Rule drumsticks, Wingam Style and Lord of the Wings wings.

Service 4.5/5

The staff at the restaurant is  friendly and cooperative. They were willing to accommodate every query or request. They were prompt with their servingsand our food was brought to us in a timely manner.

Verdict: Overall, Wings is a great stop over for a quick meal and has a decent menu variety. It is currently the only place in Lahore making ostrich burgers; so, is a definite point of interest for people who like trying out new food.
