Ahmed said the election commission received complaints of irregularities and mishaps during polling on May 30 and has hence decided to conduct polls again in tehsil, village and neighbourhood councils in 13 districts. He added reports have also been received by the returning officers regarding the disturbances on the election day.

According to the ROs’ reports, re-elections would be conducted in 26 polling stations in Peshawar, 87 in Nowshera, 47 in Charsadda, 42 in Mardan, 17 in Swabi, 68 in Karak, 11 in Abbottabad, nine in Lakki Marwat, seven in DI Khan, five in Kohat, six in Hangu and in Buner polls will be conducted again in only one polling station.

Election tribunals had been set up across the province and the district and session judges heard the cases of rigging and irregularities.
Ahmed said the ECP also has the power to order re-elections if undeniable evidence of rigging is provided to it.
