ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senator Shibli Faraz had a heart attack during the Senate Standing Committee meeting on Friday morning.

According to initial reports, Faraz was shifted to PIMS hospital in Islamabad after he felt severe pain in his chest.

During the Senate meeting, it was revealed that many foreign embassies are monitoring the briefing of the federal cabinet.

“Many foreign missions have the capacity to monitor meetings at Prime Minister Secretariat, a few meters away from diplomatic enclave,” Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Interior Senator Rehman Malik said.

Malik also urged the government to unblock YouTube.

“At least it should be opened for students,” he said.

Earlier during the meeting, Senate chairperson Raza Rabbani said the Pakistani Military is a truly “professional force,” one that understands that democracy is in this State's favour.

"Those who are talking about packing up democratic setup will not be tolerated. Freedom of expression is not a license," said Rabbani.

Rabbani’s statement was in response to Senator Usman Kakar’s statement on former Inter-Services Intelligence DG Lt General Hameed Gul who called for military rule in the country.

“Such wish is against the spirit of true democracy,” Rabbani said.

Kakar drew attention towards General Gul's statement where he asked for the Constitution to be suspended.

Adnan Siddiqi | 9 years ago | Reply @Baba Jee: & PTI is a party of agencies, Gen. Ehtesham Zamir and Musharraf. You have just named a few individuals who were once part of inner circle of Musharraf. Whereas PTI is a party whose own chairman once held PTI core committee meetings inside the president house presided by the dictator Musharraf. These arguments have gone stale Baba. Come up with something new.
