Crime against children: SC directs police to arrest rapist
The policemen sought more time from the court
LAHORE:
The Supreme Court on Thursday directed the Lahore police to waste no time in arresting the culprit in the rape of a five-year-old girl. Police officials told the bench of the Supreme Court’s Lahore registry that 190 suspects had been interrogated in the case so far. However, none of them was found to have been linked with the crime, they said. The policemen sought more time from the court. The bench headed, by Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, adjourned hearing on the case for four weeks, and directed the officers to submit a progress report at the next hearing. The Supreme Court had taken suo motu notice of the rape of the child in Mughalpura in 2013.
