MIRAMSHAH:

At least 10 militants were killed in a pre-dawn raid in North Waziristan’s Datta Khel area as part of the ongoing Operation Zarb-e-Azb, according to a statement released by the military’s media wing on Thursday.

In its statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the operation was conducted in an area close to the Pak-Afghan border in North Waziristan.

Security forces also claimed to have destroyed militant sanctuaries during the raid.

In the wake of the latest terrorist attacks in North Waziristan Agency, which is rife with Taliban militant activity, security forces have intensified the campaign in adjacent Datta Khel region.

The military has vowed to wipe out the strongholds that insurgents have used to mount countless deadly attacks in recent years. Earlier this month, at least 22 militants were killed in aerial strikes and a ground operation in the same region.
