By-polls: PML-N’s Tarar bags NA-108 seat

Fireworks and bhangra dance announced the victory for Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz candidate Mumtaz Ahmed Tarar in the NA 108 by-polls in Mandi Bahauddin.


According to unofficial results Mumtaz Ahmed got 77,884 votes against 40,570 polled by PTI candidate Mohammad Tariq Tarar. PPP’s Asif Basheer Bhagat secured 29,618 votes.


The results from 278 polling stations out of 289 in the constituency had clearly indicated the victory of PML-N.


The polling day had its share of election violence. Three supporters of PML-N and two of PTI were injured in an exchange of fire in Rakh Baoch, a rural area of the constituency.


In the town, PTI and PML-N workers came to fisticuffs at Sir Syed High School polling station a number of times, forcing the authorities to stop the voting process there.
