Fans of One Direction booed former member Zayn Malik at a concert in Cardiff, Wales on Friday night, India Today reported.

The 22-year-old singer quit the chart-topping band in March this year. However the band's first UK performance without Zayn made fans jeer at an image of the ex-member that appeared on a big screen.

An image of Zayn that appeared during an advert for their hit single You and I, immediately steered a negative response among the audience.

The reaction from the crowd came shortly after band member Harry Styles, 21, stated that the group needs to focus on their upcoming songs and stop worrying about Zayn's abrupt departure from the band.

"We have the album and the tour that we're working on right now. And I think, when you have so many goals that you feel you have yet to achieve, it's kind of hard to see past those," Harry said.

The singer added, "I think it's important to focus on what's going on and don't lose track. We're all working towards the same thing right now."
