Food quality: Five candy factories sealed

The spokesman said samples collected from these factories had been sent to a laboratory for analysis

As many as five candy manufacturing factories were sealed by health authorities on Sunday.


A spokesman of the Health Department said that the district health officer, the Saddar assistant commissioner and the Iqbal Town TMO had led raids at various factories.

He said five factories - Baba Halal Food Factory, Rana Shabbir Papar Factory, Riaz Mumtaz Papar Factory, Malik Jaffar Papar Factory and Ghulam Mohiyuddin Papar Factory – were found manufacturing spurious food items. The spokesman said hygiene conditions at these factories were poor.

Muhammad Ashraf, Riaz, Ghulam Abbas, Shaban Ali and Muhammad Ramazan were arrested from the factories.

The spokesman said samples collected from these factories had been sent to a laboratory for analysis.
