KARACHI: An anti-terrorism court on Saturday allowed the police to interrogate 26 detained suspects in a case registered against Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Amir Khan for allegedly financing, instigating and harbouring criminals. Khan, along with dozens of other MQM workers, was detained during a raid by the Rangers at Nine Zero on March 11. At least 60 workers, including him, were put in preventive detention under the custody of the paramilitary force for three months, while 26 others were implicated in penal cases. A day after Khan was remanded to police custody for a week, Mohsin Zaidi, the officer investigating the case against him, requested the ATC-II for permission to grill the 26 party workers who were under trial, including target killers Faisal Mehmood alias Mota, Ubaid Khursheed alias K2 and Nadir Shah. The judge allowed the application and directed the investigation officer to interrogate the suspects within the premises of the Karachi Central Jail.
