PESHAWAR:

A newly-elected tehsil council member from Haripur, Iftikhar Abbasi, on Thursday announced his decision to join Awami National Party.

Abbasi made the announcement at Bacha Khan Markaz in Peshawar in the presence of ANP party’s parliamentary leader in the K-P Assembly Sardar Hussain Babak. The latter welcomed the new party member by giving him the traditional red cap.

Abbasi said he would strive to strengthen ANP at the grass-roots level in Haripur district.

Babak thanked Iftikhar Abbasi for joining ANP and said the party carried out record development work in Haripur during its tenure.

He said the former ANP-led government did its best to develop districts like Haripur. He urged Abbasi and his fellow party workers to take the party’s message to all corners of the district.

Abbasi’s decision to join ANP comes as a bit of a surprise as Hazara Division is regarded as a stronghold of PML-N, however, recently PTI has also made inroads.
