Treason case: Govt ready to probe abettors
The case was later adjourned till June 16.

The federal government has once again submitted before the Islamabad High Court that it was ready to initiate investigations into the aiders and abettors in a pending treason case against former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf.
Additional Attorney General Afnan Karim Kundi reiterated that the federal government was willing to investigate aiders and abettors as they had not been looked into earlier.
The proposal was presented before a bench comprising Justice Noorul Haq N Qureshi and Justice Aamer Farooq.
The bench was hearing the petitions of Zahid Hamid, Musharraf’s law minister in 2007, former chief justice of Pakistan Abdul Hameed Dogar, and former prime minister Shaukat Aziz.
All three had challenged the special court’s November 21 order where, by a majority decision, it had directed the federal government to include more names as abettors in Musharraf’s act of imposing emergency.
Kundi said the government will provide an opportunity for them to clarify their positions as they were not summoned by the trial court.
In the written statement, Kundi said the adverse remarks and observations made by the special court against the government and the investigation agency may be expunged. The case was later adjourned till June 16.
